Hermès inaugurates its 25th French leather goods store in Gironde

The leather goods workshop in Loupes is Hermès' second production site in the Gironde department, after the one in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, which opened in 2021, the group stated in a press release. Regionally, it is Hermès' sixth leather goods and saddlery production site in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.

Within the factory, artisans will produce the house's iconic creations, including the famous Kelly bag. A workshop is also dedicated to developing the production steps for new models.

For its recruitment, Hermès relies in particular on France Travail Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The training, which is free and paid, is open to anyone wishing to become a leather goods craftsman, with no prerequisites, according to the silk scarf manufacturer.

Hermès, whose sales continue to grow, published a sharp increase in revenue last year (+5,5%, to 16 billion euros) despite the slowdown that has affected the luxury sector for several quarters.

The leather goods and saddlery business, its core activity, represented some 7 billion euros in 2025 (+9,5%), driven by strong demand for collections and increased production capacity.

To meet demand, Hermès will open three more sites in Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes), Colombelles (Calvados) and Les Andelys (Eure).
