Heidelberg Materials' low-carbon concretes at the heart of Domaine de la Torte (40)

Its solutions are carefully adapted to the specific requirements of each type of structure, both in terms of technical and environmental performance. Thus, Heidelberg Materials naturally proposed concretes with a reduced carbon footprint, less than 120 kg/m³, for a project designed in collaboration with ecologists, aimed at preserving biodiversity and local wildlife: the Domaine de la Torte, located a few minutes from the city center of Dax.

Domaine de la Torte, a RE2020-certified program supported by Bouygues Immobilier and designed by the ARGI architecture agency, includes 34 housing units (2 to 4-room apartments with balconies, terraces or private gardens) as well as a medical center. Clad in a light-colored coating, with a traditional roof and wooden railings, the building, delivered at the end of 2024, will be fully inspired by local architecture and will have a landscaped block with multiple species, with insect hotels and pedestrian paths.

For the structural work, the technical specifications recommended the use of concrete with a carbon footprint of less than 150 kg/m3. The regional teams at Heidelberg Materials were able to respond perfectly: 1000 m3 of concrete with a carbon footprint of less than 120 kg/m3, from local plants in Dax, Peyrehorade and Saint-Vincent de Paul (Heidelberg Materials always favouring short circuits), were delivered to Lalanne Construction, which was in charge of the site. Foundation, slab and wall concrete with a reduced carbon footprint was thus implemented: TRADIFOND VISIONAIR (120 kg CO2/m3), TRADIPLAN VISIONAIR (118 kg CO2/m3) and TRADIVOIL VISIONAIR (118 kg CO2/m3).

All the partners involved in the construction of the Domaine de la Torte share the same sensitivity to the challenges of sustainable construction, attentive to designing a building that respects both the environment and the comfort of residents.
