The Garbsen public open-air swimming pool is adorned with 200 m² of Kebony Clear wood

The outdoor swimming pool is bordered by 11.000 m² of green space. In this privileged leisure setting, there is also a beach volleyball court, a playground for children, a swing, a six-metre-high climbing area and a vast lawn with trees.

The 745 m² swimming pool has six swimming lanes, an area for non-swimmers and a space dedicated to toddlers. The stainless steel walls reflect the sun and help to heat the water, which can be supplemented with energy from solar collectors.

The Lohaus Carl Köhlmos architectural office, in charge of the project, chose Kebony wood to create several daybeds and large rest areas. Developed in Norway, Kebony's pioneering wood treatment technology involves heating sustainably sourced softwoods with furfuryl alcohol, an agriculturally derived product, thereby modifying the wood to acquire the same properties as woods. tropical hard, with a reduced carbon footprint.

Environmentally friendly, Kebony wood requires minimal maintenance. It stands up to heavy use and weathering and develops an elegant silver-gray patina over time. All these qualities have made it the obvious choice for this modernized leisure space, surrounded by nature and capable of welcoming all kinds of audiences.
