French construction group Eiffage announced on Tuesday, April 22, that it had won the contract to build the new Formula 1 urban circuit in Madrid, in a consortium with the Spanish company Acciona.
This €83,2 million contract, won by the Spanish subsidiary Eiffage Construccion, includes the design and construction of "the new Formula 1 urban circuit in Madrid, Spain, called Madring," said Eiffage, whose share of the contract amounts to €33,3 million.
More specifically, the contract includes "the complete construction of temporary infrastructure, including the construction, assembly and dismantling phases, as well as the restoration of public roads after each edition, as well as the creation of new roadways and the installation of equipment specific to sporting events," Eiffage added in a press release.
This circuit, which will host the Spanish Grand Prix, currently held in Barcelona, from 2026, will be located northeast of the Iberian capital.
"Work will begin in April 2026 and be completed in the summer of 2026," in preparation for the Grand Prix, Eiffage added.
Eiffage Construccion has already carried out "the resurfacing of the Jerez circuit for the 2009 MotoGP Grand Prix, as well as the asphalting of the third largest circuit in Spain, located in Carmona, Andalusia," Eiffage said.
