Indeed, France Travaux sur Cordes is today the only business union to organize a mixed gathering of this type in France, to highlight and thank the essential work of rope access workers.
A unifying 11th edition to promote a demanding profession
Since 2006, rope access repair meetings have been held every two years, bringing together all the players in the profession (rope repair technicians, business leaders, partners, training centers, temporary employment companies, project managers and project managers) as well as various institutions such as the OPPBTP, the IRNS, the CCCA-BTP, the CNAM, the FFB, the FNTP and the Ministry of Labor.
The 2024 French Ropes Championship will continue in this vein with technical events in individual and team categories, combining agility and technicality. Because this profession, recognized since 2010, codified by the Professional Training and Employment authorities, requires “professional” know-how as well as mastery of rope movement techniques, to be able to install a workstation on ropes and work there in complete safety.
The fields of intervention of rope access technicians are particularly numerous and varied, ranging from the building sector to the public works sector, including events and even industry.
Jacques BORDIGNON, President of France Travaux sur Cordes, emphasizes the requirements required to exercise this profession: “The varied environments of intervention, in the urban sector, in industry or in public works, imply for the rope access technician a significant technical background. A Professional Qualification Certificate (CQP) “Working on ropes - initial level” is required. It will be completed by the CQP “Working on ropes - confirmed level” to become an experienced rope access technician. Other certificates enrich these initial training courses: the CQP “Supervise work on ropes on site”, the CQP “Organize work on ropes” or the CQP “Natural risks protection technician”. »
In the heart of the Marseille city, an extraordinary event and professional conferences open to all to discover the profession and encourage vocations!
The 11th edition of the French Rope Access Championship will take place in three phases:
- The qualifying phase on Thursday June 27 all day;
- The “Individual Masters” on Friday 28 morning;
- The finals on Friday afternoon.
Competitors will benefit from the 36.000 m2 of space and infrastructure of the Cité des arts de la rue, located in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille, an emblematic place which makes it possible to organize very technical and impressive events and confrontations between rope access technicians.
The general public will be able to attend the various events as well as the three professional conferences organized on site, for the most interested among them, perhaps helping to encourage vocations:

- Thursday June 27, 14:00 p.m.: “Silica and lead risks”, hosted by Florian LATTARD, Deputy Director of the AURA agency within the OPPBTP (Lyon site);
