France Silver Éco and Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility are committed to accelerating the adaptation of housing to aging.

This approach brings together key players around a common goal: to offer a simple, ethical and accessible solution to enable seniors to age at home.

While today people over 75 represent nearly 10% of the population (almost 6 million people), this figure will reach nearly 20% by 2070, or almost 14 million French people (1). To address this demographic shift, housing is the cornerstone of a comprehensive plan: 90% of seniors wish to age at home, which implies responding to a strong societal aspiration, guaranteeing the maintenance of social connections and independence. These projections call for a massive and coordinated response, incorporating financial solutions to allow for the immediate adaptation of housing and the staggered payment of renovations.

This is the purpose of the charter of good practices signed on December 18, 2025, in order to structure and accelerate the adaptation of housing to promote healthy aging.

The charter brings together key players in adapting housing to the needs of an aging population:

• Building federations (FFB, CAPEB) for carrying out the work;
• Manufacturers and distributors (FDMC, Coedis, Ignes) can guarantee the conformity of the equipment;
• Support staff (occupational therapists, project management assistants) to ensure the relevance of the solutions;
• Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility, through its commercial brand Sofinco, offers a financing or co-financing solution for adaptation work, in addition to national or local public aid.

A dedicated financing offer

Sofinco is launching a loan specifically for home adaptations for aging in place, which professionals can offer to their clients. This solution allows seniors to finance or co-finance their adaptation work with simple and accessible terms. It aims to address the financial barrier identified by the Ifop study (November 2023), which found that 38% of seniors consider financial assistance a top priority for remaining in their own homes.

Sofinco is also the financial agent for the National Housing Agency (Anah). This role allows it to support building professionals by directly paying them public aid – MaPrimeAdapt' and MaPrimeRénov' – as soon as eligible work is completed, thus limiting the impact on their cash flow.

These commitments are part of Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility's 2028 strategic plan, which supports environmental and societal transitions. This translates, in particular, into the ambition to finance €1 billion worth of projects in France by 2028.

An animation job

The work of the Silver sector will now continue, focusing on raising awareness among professionals about demographic challenges and available funding. The objective will also be to increase the visibility of this system among referring professionals and intermediaries (UNCCAS, associations of elected officials, associations, home care service federations, etc.).
