The FOAMGLAS sloping insulation system® TAPERED, a unique solution from Owens Corning FOAMGLAS, addresses two essential aspects of a flat roof construction or renovation project: thermal insulation and water flow to rainwater drains. The slope of the insulation is defined according to needs.
FOAMGLAS®, rigid glass foam thermal insulation, resists compression without settling. In FOAMGLAS version® TAPERED, the glass foam is shaped in the factory to give it the desired slope shape.
FOAMGLAS® TAPERED is compatible with all waterproofing, fittings and roofing applications, from inaccessible roofs to car park roofs, including greenery and gardens.
Interests and benefits
In the new
In new concrete construction, FOAMGLAS insulation® TAPERED lightens roofs by replacing heavy and difficult to implement concrete slope forms with factory-sloped foamed glass with a density of 100 kg/m3This solution, which benefits from a Technical Opinion from the CSTB, is appreciated for its economy and speed: FOAMGLAS® TAPERED replaces both the concrete slope form and the thermal insulation.
New: in new wooden construction, FOAMGLAS insulation® TAPERED simplifies frames by replacing traditional slopes with zero slope! These are load-bearing elements made of wood or wood-derived panels that make up the element
roof carrier. Above, the integrated sloped thermal insulation and waterproofing complete the roof. Various developments are possible: green roofs, gardens or terraces accessible to pedestrians.
FOAMGLAS® TAPERED thus offers new perspectives in timber construction in terms of interior architecture (with horizontal roofs) and exterior architecture (for school playgrounds for example, with green roofs).
In renovation
On concrete slab, remove water retention with FOAMGLAS® TAPERED has become a classic in the renovation of flat roofs, for various reasons: ensuring the safety of people, providing a beautiful aesthetic, reducing or eliminating the presence of mosquitoes.
It may also be necessary to change the position of the EPs on low-slope roofs; in this case, FOAMGLAS® TAPERED offers a solution to achieve the required counter-slopes.
Sometimes, renovations require compliance with the slopes of the existing support. For example, a renovation of a roof accessible to vehicles with an existing 1% slope can be renovated with FOAMGLAS® TAPERED 1% slope to reach the 2% regulatory slope.
On wood, wood-based panels or on existing steel trays, FOAMGLAS® TAPERED is very useful for preserving these load-bearing elements of the roof, and avoiding having to remove them and modify the framework when the slopes are non-existent or insufficient. Thus, a roof made of wooden panels with zero slope or a roof made of steel trays with insufficient slope will be renovated with FOAMGLAS® TAPERED. In both cases, thanks to the technical validations of Owens Corning FOAMGLAS, the roofs will have become compliant again.
