FireAngel announces a collaboration with the social housing provider OPHIS for the deployment of more than 13.000 smoke detectors

With the support of QSBAIL, FireAngel's partner in France, the two companies intend to encourage coordinated action to effectively combat domestic fires.

Strengthening security and comfort within OPHIS housing

In addition to replacing smoke detectors, FireAngel will supply kits for people with reduced mobility (PRM) in housing managed by the social housing provider operating in the Auvergne region. The devices will be fully deployed – in three to four progressive phases – by 2026. This approach allows the housing provider, which manages the installation, to spread the workload, ensure continuity of service, and secure logistics and after-sales support.

FireAngel's devices will guarantee optimal fire safety for all OPHIS customers. Certified to NF standards, these smoke detectors are exceptionally robust and reliable. As for the PMR kits, they are particularly suitable for elderly people or those with disabilities (such as hearing impairments): they are equipped with a vibrating cushion that can be placed under a pillow and a strobe light that emits flashing signals.

Paving the way for an effective renewal of smoke detectors for social housing providers

Through their collaboration, FireAngel and OPHIS aim to build a safer social housing model. The two companies also express their commitment to encouraging landlords to optimize the management of smoke detectors within their housing stock. And with good reason: ten years after the implementation of the ALUR law – which mandated the installation of smoke detectors in all homes in France – a large proportion of these devices are reaching the end of their recommended lifespan.

Therefore, awareness-raising efforts and orchestrating their renewal seem essential: without coordinated action, many homes will soon be equipped with defective or outdated smoke detectors, giving a false impression of compliance.

To mitigate this critical risk for social landlords, the standardization of equipment – ​​through the adoption of NF-certified models that meet established standards – makes it possible to guarantee a consistent level of safety, and to simplify maintenance and renewal.

This standardization must be accompanied by rigorous traceability: identifying installation dates, scheduling renewals, and archiving data. In this regard, marking systems, QR codes, or property management applications must be integrated into the asset management strategy.

Between regulatory requirements and operational imperatives, the challenge is no longer solely technical, but also, and above all, organizational.
