From January 22 to 24, 2019, the 20th edition of the European Energy Transition Conference will be held in Dunkirk, France. For 3 days, nearly 3500 participants - representatives of public authorities, economic and academic worlds and civil society, will meet at the Kursaal - Palais des Congrès to debate and share their experience of the energy transition of territories around a program composed of over a hundred events - plenary sessions, sharing workshops, co-creation and field visits.
The European meeting of the energy transition: demonstrator of innovations of the territories and their partners for 20 years
Launched in 1999 by the Urban Community of Dunkirk, in partnership with ADEME, then co-organized by Bordeaux Métropole and Greater Geneva, the European Assizes of the Energy Transition celebrate in 2019, their 20 years. Wanted from their creation as a laboratory of ideas and a concentrate of experiences, the Assises are today a crucible of inspiration for any territory engaged in an energy transition process.
Industrial ecology, sobriety, resilience, new modes of governance, transport, town planning, agriculture, new technologies, new solidarities and cooperation… Organized in the continuity of government highlights - and in particular the UN Summits on Climate (COP), the Assizes are an opportunity for governments and local actors to collectively take ownership of new national and international challenges, and above all to share successful experiences and concrete solutions to implement the energy transition in the regions.

Built around the common thread "Committed and united territories", the 20th edition of the Assizes will be an opportunity to take stock of 20 years of Climate-Air-Energy territorial policy, to draw collective lessons and to unite territorial dynamics in the work to achieve a rapid and fair energy transition.
20 plenary sessions to decipher, explore and be inspired
In order to offer a global vision of the major current challenges in terms of energy transition and the fight against climate change, the European Conference on Energy Transition offers a series of plenaries, in the presence of experts and key witnesses, which allow the both to decipher current developments, to explore emerging trends and to be full of inspiration.

115 workshops to discuss, share and co-build
Each year, the Assises offer a program of workshops built in partnership with actors involved in the energy transition of the territories to make the event a real concentrate of sharing experiences, ideas and concrete solutions. This year, no less than 270 contributors - elected officials, citizens, researchers, businesses and even regional technicians, participated in the development of this program, via a call for contributions launched last April.
6 thematic visits to discover the energy transition in action on the Dunkirk territory
Establishment of the first French Power-to-Gas demonstrator in Cappelle-la-Grande (GRHYD project), conversion of an old Sugar Hall into a regional learning center dedicated to the "sustainable city" or recovery of waste as an energy source renewable for the territory: so many exemplary and innovative initiatives, implemented in the urban community of Dunkirk, to discover!

The crossroads of energy transition professions
From 22 to 24 January 2019 - Kursaal - Palais des Congrès de Dunkerque
The energy transition is bringing new sectors and new trades to life more than ever. In France, scenario studies calculate a job creation potential ranging from 280 to 000 jobs in this promising and innovative field in 400 ** (Source CLER). For 000 days, the “Carrefour des Métiers de la Transition Energétique” invites the general public, those involved in employment and training, businesses and professionals in the energy transition to reflect and imagine their future together around this professional revolution - whether we are middle school students, high school students, students, job seekers looking for guidance, retraining, seeking specialization or entrepreneurs, managers of establishments. On the program: site visits, conferences, demonstrations of physical and virtual jobs, workshops, a recruitment area "adopt a job", student testimonials and information on training in Hauts de France.
An “off” program for the general public
From January 7 to February 15, 2019 throughout the Dunkirk territory
The energy transition of the territories requires the involvement and awareness of all of society. Thus, the Urban Community of Dunkirk offers the inhabitants of its agglomeration to live to the rhythm of the European Assizes of the Energy Transition thanks to a large "OFF" program of events, both educational and fun, suitable for all audiences: children , adults, enlightened amateurs, curious or specialists in the issue of energy and ecological transition. On the program: exhibitions, screenings-debates, nature walks, shows… In total, more than forty events, run by local associations and local authorities!
