European Sustainable Development Week brought together nearly 1000 events in France

“I am delighted with the commitments and actions that have been shown throughout this week, everywhere in France. This shows the involvement of everyone, and in particular of civil society, in concrete projects in our territories. These actions will contribute to the 2030 Agenda and its 17 sustainable development objectives, of which we will celebrate 5 years next September. Ecology is one of the main priorities of the Government, it is only with you that we will succeed in meeting this challenge. After the time for awareness, the time for concrete achievements has arrived ” said Emmanuelle Wargon, State Secretary to the Minister of State, Minister for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition at the closing ceremony of the European Sustainable Development Week on Wednesday at the Ministry of the Ecological and Inclusive Transition.

Through the various events held throughout this 2019 edition of the European Sustainable Development Week has illustrated how the ecological transition and the fight against inequality are inseparable.

The success of this Week is above all the result of the many territorial initiatives, which have been proposed to a wide audience by all types of actors (State, communities, associations, businesses, citizens) in order to raise awareness of the challenges of the ecological transition. and united through: conferences, exhibitions, film screenings, education projects, visits, workshops, etc.

This Week indeed highlights all the actors of the territories who, on a daily basis, improve our living environment.

On the occasion of the closing event of the European Sustainable Development Week hosted by the Ministry, Energy Observer, the first hydrogen ship to have traveled around the world, launched Energy Observer Solutions, its online media (accessible from June 6) which offers short formats broadcast on social networks that highlight the action of pioneers who innovate for a cleaner future, and raise awareness among the general public of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN on the agenda 2030.

European Sustainable Development Week is part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the 2030 Agenda. Adopted by the United Nations in 2015, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals address the challenges that will improve the lives of populations all over the world.
