At the same time, they are integrating the issues of preserving and restoring biodiversity into their charter of commitments, which is now called the Charter of Engineering for Climate and Biodiversity.
Signing of a partnership contract with the National Museum of Natural History and in cooperation with the French Office for Biodiversity
In cooperation with the French Office for Biodiversity, the National Museum of Natural History and Syntec-Ingénierie have decided to enter into a partnership to develop continuing education for engineering professionals on environmental assessment and biodiversity. Specifically, this partnership provides for the co-production of three conferences on the theme of biodiversity, and more specifically on the integration of good environmental practices in the professional world.
This action is part of the engineering roadmap entitled Another world is reachable, which aims in particular to guide the entire profession towards business models that are fully compatible with the imperatives of the ecological and energy transition (TEE).
For Michel Kahan, president of Syntec-Ingénierie: "Engineering companies intervene at the root of industrial construction projects. They analyze, design and maintain works or products with a view to efficiency and sustainability, taking into account eco-design, and with particular attention to the environment and biodiversity. The solutions to be implemented are complex and interdependent. It is therefore essential that their professionals receive continuous training in all these issues and have in-depth expertise."
Launch of a charter for climate and biodiversity
To address the challenges of climate change, Syntec-Ingénierie has structured its action in favor of the climate through the creation in 2019 of a "Charter of Engineering for the Climate". Since its implementation, this charter has continued to strengthen with an ever-increasing number of signatories (128 companies or groups of companies, representing more than 70.000 employees in 2023). Still in the dynamic driven by its new roadmap "Another world is achievable", Syntec-Ingénierie now offers a reinforced charter, which integrates the issues of preserving and restoring biodiversity into its commitments.
Engineering, as a key player from the design phase of works and products, has the expertise and the capacity to provide concrete solutions to these two major challenges that are climate and biodiversity and which are the two battle fronts for the ecological and energy transition.
The charter of engineering for climate and biodiversity is structured around 3 pillars. Its signatories undertake to:
- Take concrete action in favor of the climate and biodiversity through the projects entrusted to us.
- Be exemplary in their own activities.
- Support employees’ commitment to climate and biodiversity through training and awareness-raising.
Since its creation, the Charter has brought together a collective that has set itself in motion, shared good practices and taken up themes to shake things up within economic sectors. This will continue with even more support services offered to signatories of the charter and more collaborations with other collectives to bring out new, more virtuous economic models.
For Martine Jauroyon, Vice-President of Syntec-Ingénierie in charge of climate strategy: "This Charter of Engineering for Climate and Biodiversity marks our desire to strengthen our actions in the service of the ecological and energy transition. More than ever, our role is to shed light, to be a force for proposals and to make possible the transformations to be carried out. And for this, we are mobilizing with determination, commitment and passion! It also aims to convince young people and all talents who aspire to engage professionally in impactful professions to join us!"
