Energy renovation: building professionals warn about the future of work financed by MaPrimeRénov'

In a statement, the professional organization believes that "the total halt of single-gesture operations, planned for next September, would mark an unacceptable blow", recalling that these operations constitute "the preferred access route for the French in a comprehensive, step-by-step renovation process".

Tradespeople advocate for phased energy renovation

When questioned by AFP, the president of Capeb, Jean-Christophe Repon, stated that "if tomorrow, MaPrimeRénov' were to evolve solely towards large-scale renovations, without single-step measures such as insulation, we might as well abolish the scheme."

The representative of the building tradespeople emphasizes the importance of maintaining subsidies for individual works in order to encourage the gradual involvement of households in the energy renovation of their homes.

"We had committed to supporting MaPrimeRénov' if it was reformed within the framework of a renovation process, the aim being to have as many individuals as possible enter into this virtuous process of renovating, and to renovate step by step, the single action must be there," he explained.

Jean-Christophe Repon also warned of a possible freeze of 300 million euros in funding for the MaPrimeRénov' budget for 2026.

The energy renovation market is in decline at the beginning of 2026.

A delegation from Capeb is due to meet this afternoon with the Minister for Cities and Housing, Vincent Jeanbrun, to discuss the prospects for the energy renovation support scheme.

According to Jean-Christophe Repon, the energy renovation market is currently experiencing difficulties: "in sharp recession in the first quarter of 2026 because it does not benefit craftsmen in its design, whereas it should be a driving force."

For the Capeb, building tradespeople must remain at the heart of the housing renovation dynamic in order to achieve the energy transition objectives set by public authorities.

The government denies any reduction in MaPrimeRénov' funding.

Faced with these concerns, the office of the Minister of Housing formally denied any reduction in the funds allocated to MaPrimeRénov', the main public support scheme for energy renovation of housing.

As a reminder, renovation by gestures represented an envelope of 600 million euros out of a total of 3,8 billion euros of aid paid in 2025 by the National Housing Agency (Anah).

A territorial reform of MaPrimeRénov' is expected in the fall.

During a Senate hearing this Tuesday, the Minister for Territorial Development and Decentralization, Françoise Gatel, confirmed that a bill dedicated to the decentralization of MaPrimeRénov' aid will be presented in the fall.

The text notably provides for the recognition of inter-municipal authorities as housing organizing authorities, a development that could modify the governance and local implementation of energy renovation support schemes.
