Enedis, RTE, Gimelec, Sycabel and Serce announce the creation of the association "Industrial Sector of Electrical Network Companies"

To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, France must gradually phase out fossil fuels and develop the electrification of uses: electricity networks are at the heart of this transformation.

The electricity network sector - network managers, equipment suppliers and construction contractors - currently represents 100.000 jobs in France, with a strong local presence and a positive contribution to France's trade balance.

The creation of the Industrial Sector of Electrical Network Companies (FIERE) association on June 4, 2025, aims to contribute to the development of the electrical network industry, which generates jobs, growth, and sovereignty. It responds to the desire to strengthen the awareness of the specific challenges of electrical networks among economic, industrial, and public stakeholders, and to strengthen cooperation between its members.

The Industrial Sector of Electrical Network Companies association brings together five founding members: Enedis, RTE, and the professional organizations GIMELEC, SYCABEL, and SERCE. They will be joined by other network operators throughout the country as well as other professional organizations.

The association will be chaired for the next two years by Marianne Laigneau, Chair of the Board of Directors of Enedis, with Philippe Piron, member of the GIMELEC board and Chief Executive Officer, Electrification Systems at GE Vernova, serving as Vice-President.

The FIERE association has the following objectives:

To support the electrification of uses and reindustrialization: work to promote technical and financial support for low-carbon industrial projects or those with sovereignty issues (such as data centers), adapt the regulatory framework and reduce deadlines;
To strengthen industrial production capacities, on national and European territory, of network equipment essential to the energy transition in order to guarantee sovereignty and security of supply;
To secure critical supplies of metals and materials, within the framework of the Clean Industrial Deal, in particular by developing solutions for circularity and the reuse of raw materials;
To support the development of skills, in particular through the ramp-up of the “Network Schools for the Energy Transition” program to facilitate the recruitment of 10.000 people per year until 2030 (source: Jobs & Skills Study);
To implement a joint CSR roadmap with a view to increasing its social impact and reducing its environmental impact. In support of the energy transition, the FIERE association aims to fully contribute to the economic dynamism of the regions and support the reindustrialization of France.
