eQ-3 presents a significantly expanded Homematic IP range for security, energy efficiency and comfort

At the Light + Building 2026 trade fair, eQ-3 presented the upcoming additions to its Homematic IP home automation system. The company is expanding its product range with a fully integrated alarm system and adding intelligent lighting solutions, control elements, and other automation components to its offering.

In parallel, eQ-3 strengthens the role of the Home Control Unit as a central platform for energy and building management through Modbus and MQTT plugins.

Expanded security ecosystem with the lock mechanism – pro, cameras and a new dashboard in the app

With the Homematic IP Lock Mechanism – pro, eQ-3 takes access control and door security to the next level. The new smart lock not only offers practical functions such as access permissions, automatic locking, a silent mode, and much more, but it also integrates the front door as a fully connected element of the alarm system: integrated position and vibration sensors, precise door status detection, and comprehensive tamper protection monitor the entire door mechanism.

Homematic IP cameras, designed for indoor and outdoor use, enhance the system with high-resolution video surveillance. Features such as motion and person detection, two-way audio, and night vision ensure optimal protection for every building. The cameras can also be linked to other Homematic IP devices, for example, to activate automatically when a Homematic IP alarm siren is triggered.

The product range includes six camera models, including a Homematic IP video doorbell, which is the ideal complement to the Homematic IP Lock Mechanism – pro.

All security-related functions are grouped in the new alarm dashboard of the Homematic IP app. Live images and recordings, event logs, alarm modes, device settings, and much more are immediately accessible. Users can also enable push notifications with a direct emergency call option.

All new security components will be launched during the second quarter of 2026.

Smart up your Light: Homematic IP lamps, dimmer module and switch actuators

To get a quick start in smart lighting, eQ-3 will launch its own Homematic IP bulbs for the first time in the third quarter of 2026. The E27 and GU10 socket bulbs offer vibrant colors and warm white light thanks to RGBWW LEDs. They can be easily installed in existing fixtures and controlled via the app in scenes or groups.

The Homematic IP universal dimmer module was specifically designed for installation in existing buildings. It can also operate in configurations without a neutral conductor, automatically detects the connected load and dimming method, and features an additional input for connecting standard switches. Control elements with push buttons or motion sensors offer flexible control options.

The Homematic IP (6A) flush-mounted switching actuator is also a truly practical solution for electrical installations. Thanks to its particularly compact design, it can be installed even in confined spaces. Convenient spring-loaded plug-in terminals on the front simplify wiring. The actuator will be available with an optional additional terminal for switches or push buttons.

Elegant control in the smart home

Despite app and voice control, buttons and multifunction displays remain essential components of any smart building. Homematic IP already offers a wide range of control elements and will offer even more choices to users in the future.

Until now, Homematic IP glass displays could only be used in wired installations. Starting in the second quarter of 2026, these multifunctional touchscreens will also be available in a wireless version. Users will be able to control lighting, blinds, and much more from a single point with these devices. Six screen pages can be assigned to different actions. The Homematic IP – plus glass display offers five additional screens for indoor climate control. New features will also be introduced, such as an intuitive color selector for adjusting colored lighting, which will also be offered to owners of wired glass displays via a free firmware update.

Last year, eQ-3 launched the Homematic IP series in glass, consisting of glass buttons and glass wall thermostats. These elegant and practical devices will also be available in a wired version from the third quarter of 2026.

Modbus and MQTT plugins for the Homematic IP Home Control Unit

New plugins extend the capabilities of the Homematic IP Home Control Unit as a comprehensive platform for energy and building automation. In addition to EEBUS, the smart home control center will also support Modbus and MQTT starting in the third quarter of 2026. These communication interfaces offer installers and system integrators greater flexibility in implementing their projects.

The Modbus protocol enables the integration of heat pumps, inverters, charging stations, and air conditioning systems into the Homematic IP ecosystem. The Home Control Unit thus becomes a flexible command center for a home energy management system. MQTT also allows the transfer of control commands and sensor data between Homematic IP and external systems.
