Colas wins contract to renovate a road in Alaska

The project involves the reconstruction and widening of an 8-kilometer stretch of road, the replacement of a large bridge, and the installation of two 5,8-meter-wide and 4,5-meter-high debris flow pipes. It also includes excavation and backfilling work, the production of aggregates and asphalt mixes, and their application along the road.

Work began in April 2025 and will continue until October 2027. It will involve a team of 60 people at peak activity. In accordance with its environmental commitments, Colas will use recycled materials on this project and will carry out concrete actions to restore the ecological waterways crossed.

The subsidiary will also ensure the protection of migratory birds and actively contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Alaska Native communities.

This operation, which aims to modernize the only road linking Haines to the rest of the territory, will strengthen security, facilitate trade, and support the local economy by promoting job creation, the development of training and the activity of local businesses.
