Clareo claims up to 85% energy savings through lighting renovation

Rising electricity prices are increasing interest in projects that can quickly reduce building energy consumption. Since August 1, 2026, the regulated electricity sales tariff has increased by an average of 2,5% including VAT for eligible households and small businesses.

However, businesses and local authorities are not all affected in the same way, as their pricing conditions depend in particular on their contract, their subscribed power, and their supplier. Nevertheless, controlling energy consumption remains a significant challenge for commercial, industrial, and logistics buildings.

According to Clareo, lighting accounts for an average of 20% of the electricity consumption of a commercial building and can reach 45% in some logistics warehouses. Its renovation would therefore be one of the most readily available levers for energy efficiency, with work that can be carried out without interrupting operations.

Four projects showing energy savings of 68 to 85%

Clareo presents the results of four projects completed as part of its turnkey renovation offering, CLAREO Global Solution. The performance and savings figures mentioned below are based on data provided by the company.

• France Routing: 250 light fixtures were replaced at a 22.000 m² industrial site. Clareo reports an 80% reduction in lighting energy consumption and €300.000 in annual savings. The work was reportedly carried out without interrupting production.
• City of Music – Philharmonie de Paris: Replacing 1.257 light fixtures would have reduced energy consumption by 78%, representing an announced saving of 45.000 euros per year.
• Worldline headquarters in Puteaux: The renovation involved 890 light fixtures. According to Clareo, lighting consumption has decreased by 85%, resulting in annual savings of €41.000.
• SOS Group nursing home in Aulnay-sous-Bois: Replacing 560 light fixtures would have resulted in a 68% reduction in consumption and savings of 27.235 euros per year.

Beyond energy savings, Clareo emphasizes improved visual comfort for occupants. This aspect, however, depends on the chosen design, lighting levels, color temperature, glare control, and the adaptation of equipment to the uses of each space.

Returns on investment projected between 1,5 and 5 years

According to the company, the return on investment for a lighting renovation is generally between 1,5 and 5 years. This period varies depending on the condition of the existing installation, operating hours, electricity prices, equipment chosen, and the possible integration of detection or control systems.

The actual savings must therefore be assessed based on a site audit and a clearly defined baseline scenario. The measurement method, the period considered, and the pricing assumptions used are also crucial for comparing results.

Financing linked to the savings generated

With CLAREO Global Solution, Clareo offers to manage the entire operation, from the initial audit to equipment maintenance. The company states that the renovation can be undertaken without any initial investment from the client, as the energy savings subsequently contribute to its financing.

This formula does not mean that the equipment and services are free. Its economic value must be assessed in light of the total cost of the contract, its duration, the maintenance conditions, and any performance commitments that may be included.
