Capremib incorporates recycled aggregates for the production of high-quality concrete blocks for the National Circus Arts Centre in Châlons-en-Champagne.

This virtuous approach illustrates the desire of the company and the Cnac to work locally by promoting short supply chains and using recycled materials to save natural resources.

These custom blocks will first be used as poster supports to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Cnac, and then later to weigh down marquees, gantries and masts.

Recycled aggregates: a virtuous cycle

Following the renewal of 20 km of railway track between Châlons-en-Champagne and Reims by SNCF Réseau, CAPREMIB is giving a second life to 30,000 concrete sleepers. Approximately 5000 tons of concrete in two different aggregate sizes were crushed over two weeks and reused to manufacture high-quality concrete blocks with recycled aggregates for the National Center for Circus Arts. 700 tons of steel were removed.

According to Marie-Christine Guillemont, Performance Director: “CAPREMIB is gaining increasing experience in using recycled aggregates in its concrete mixes. Their performance is certified by the NF EN 206+A2/CN I standard of December 2025 relating to the manufacture of concrete including recycled aggregates. We are able to obtain the same characteristics as traditionally precast concrete, as demonstrated by the trials and tests carried out; this represents a real opportunity for the company.”

Recycled aggregates: a genuine environmental approach for the future for CAPREMIB

The project developed with the CNAC reflects the group's commitment to offering new alternatives for construction that respect the environment without compromising on quality. Thus, CAPREMIB is based on the principles of the circular economy, which requires creating value from recycled materials.

By promoting local sourcing and conserving natural resources, CAPREMIB is not new to this approach. In 2025, the company used aggregates from the demolition of a social housing block belonging to Reims Habitat.

In agreement with this social landlord, these recycled aggregates, after crushing, were integrated by CAPREMIB into the formulation of its prefabricated concretes for the construction of the stands of the amphitheater of the Neoma Business School in Reims.

By promoting the circular economy, CAPREMIB is intensifying its strategy, initiated in 2018, in the formulation of low and very low carbon concrete to reduce the environmental footprint of its systems.
