Cancellation of the reduction in MaPrimeRénov' subsidies for wood heating: what the Council of State's decision changes

What the Council of State's decision says

Propellet had filed an appeal against the decree of December 4, 2024, which had reduced the MaPrimeRénov' grants for wood and biomass heating equipment by approximately 30% from January 1, 2025. The Council of State annulled this provision on March 11, 2026.

Like any legal annulment, it has a retroactive effect in principle: the annulled provision is deemed never to have existed. In practical terms, to return to the level of aid applicable in 2024, approximately 42% must be added to the MaPrimeRénov' aid as it has been paid out since 2025.

What this means for pellet stoves

For applications already allocated in 2025 and 2026:

Households that have received MaPrimeRénov' aid on a case that has already been awarded can retroactively claim an additional amount of nearly 42% of the aid they actually received.

For cases currently being processed and those yet to come:

All applications currently being processed by the ANAH services, as well as those submitted in 2026, must receive the same level of assistance as in 2024, i.e. a level nearly 42% higher than that currently displayed in the ANAH scales.

And what about boilers?

The situation is different for wood and pellet boilers:

Households that received MaPrimeRénov' aid on a file awarded in 2025 or 2026 can also claim an additional amount of nearly 42% of the aid they actually received.

However, the decree of September 8, 2025, eliminated the MaPrimeRénov' single-gesture grant for boilers as of January 1, 2026. This decree remains in effect. Therefore, no action is required for applications submitted after this date.

A situation that has become difficult for households to understand.

However, it's important to understand that recovering past MaPrimeRénov' grants remains legally uncertain. It depends on a judge's assessment of the damages suffered. At this stage, we don't know precisely what will be possible to obtain.

Propellet hopes for quick clarification from ANAH and public authorities regarding the concrete application of this decision, the procedures for regularizing files already processed and the updating of the currently displayed scales.
