Canadian pension fund La Caisse has signed an agreement to acquire Australian company Edify, which specializes in the development and operation of green electricity.
The transaction, valued at one billion Canadian dollars (611 million euros), will allow it to finance two hybrid projects combining solar production and battery energy storage.
"Edify will be able to accelerate the implementation of projects (...) that will contribute to strengthening the electricity grid and advancing decarbonization," said La Caisse's Senior Vice President, Emmanuel Jaclot, on Monday.
This agreement marks, according to Edify founder and president John Cole, a "turning point" for the Australian company, which will be able to strengthen its financial solidity and accelerate the construction of green power plants.
Founded in 2015, Edify operates several solar power plants and energy storage systems in Australia.
The Caisse, formerly known as the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec (CDPQ), is a global investment group with net assets of $496 billion as of June 30, 2025.
