CTB Certifications, by FCBA: three players in the wood industry distinguished

The FCBA Technological Institute recently recognized 3 companies in the wood industry:

• Monnet-Sève has received CTB Cubage Bois Ronds certification for its sawmill in Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat (09).
• Concept MOB, whose headquarters are located in Peguihlan (31), has received CTB Constructeur Bois certification.
• Sivalbp, a manufacturer of wooden cladding based in Thônes (74), has received the CTB Bardage “Ecothermo” certification, a new individual certification.

The CTB brand covers, through various applications, the entire world of wood (1^st transformation, construction, treatment and furniture). Wood professionals can thus access a quality benchmark adapted to their activity. Either via an already established collective certification, or via an individual certification developed exclusively for a specific solution.

The three new certificates issued by FCBA bear witness to this uniqueness of the CTB universe.

CTB Cubage Bois Ronds, handed over to the Monnet-Sève group

Monnet-Sève, 1^er French softwood sawyer, 1^er European Douglas sawyer, largest manufacturer of glued laminated timber in France. Family group created in 1927. It builds its development around the working comfort of its employees and a proven requirement for quality.

All the cubers installed on its sawmills are CTB Cubage Bois Ronds certified. This makes it possible to certify the commercial cubing of the timber, upon receipt. The cubing process is supervised and all parties (sawmillers, suppliers and forestry companies) work together in trust.

When it installs a canter line on the Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat site, Monnet-Sève simultaneously starts the CTB certification process:

CTB Wood Builder, handed over to the company CONCEPT MOB

Designer-builder of 3D wooden frame walls and modules, MOB Concept has existed for 3 years. The company is established on a site with 35 years of expertise in the field of wood construction.

Its signature: recognized expertise on large-scale, complex and/or custom projects. For example, a vast Parisian facade renovation project designed by Jean Prouvé. Concept MOB recovered the original metal decorative elements and then reintegrated them into the new wooden construction.

With a team of 45 people, Concept MOB has a capacity of 50m² per year of timber frame construction.

When it was acquired in 2021, the Péguilhan site lost its ISO 9001 certification. The company then decided to move towards a certification more in line with its positioning.

CTB “Ecothermo” cladding, delivered to the Sivalbp company

Sivalbp has been a French manufacturer of wood cladding since 2008. It offers cladding that is exclusively made in France, produced in the heart of the Alps, in Thônes. The company is active in France and Europe. It is recognized for a technique that it alone implements on an industrial scale: thermo treatment on softwood.

This technique allows to remove a maximum of humidity in the wood and to close its pores. It thus improves the durability of the material against the risk of fungus. It also prevents the leakage of resin during episodes of heavy rain and heat waves.

However, thermally modified wood is not currently taken into account in the DTU. This is why Sivalbp has approached FCBA. Its objective is to develop a dedicated individual certification for:

• Certify the performance, quality, and class 3 of the thermo-treated softwood cladding blades by the company.
• And thus, certify compliance with the requirements of NF DU 41.2, in relation to project owners, prescribers and insurers.

For Yves Baudin, Sales Manager: "We already had the CTB-B+ certification (treatment against wood-eating insect larvae, wood-eating fungi and termites). Creating an equivalent framework of requirements for our heat treatment technique, with FCBA, was therefore obvious. Especially since they offer this individual certification framework, adapted to our specific problem.

Individual certification CTB Bardage Ecothermo: dedicated to “Ecothermo” blades, from Sivalbp, for the creation of exterior wooden cladding. CTB “Ecothermo” certifies:

• Compatibility of the cladding range for use in employment class 3.1;
• The performance of the finishing system.
