Anger among construction workers: One day to go before a massive mobilization across France

At the call of the CAPEB, building tradespeople will mobilize massively on Wednesday, December 17th to alert public authorities to the consequences of "stop-and-go" policies and aberrant decisions they suffer on a daily basis, in particular MaPrimeRénov' and the REP PMCB.

The mobilization is expected to be exceptional in its scale:

78% of the departmental CAPEB branches are organizing rallies in front of the prefectures.
More than 50 meetings requested or confirmed with the prefects
Nearly 40 press points are planned across the country.
More than 30 demonstrations in front of prefectures

The artisans will express their exasperation: "Enough is enough!"

Where gatherings are planned, construction workers will transform the prefecture's gates into a "grievance tree," hanging testimonies from the field. Some will also symbolically deposit construction waste to denounce the shortcomings of the PMCB REP (Public-Private Partnership for Construction and Public Works).

Actions aimed at the press will highlight testimonies illustrating the findings on the ground and will be an opportunity to reiterate CAPEB's proposals to improve the criticized systems.

This coordinated national mobilization aims to secure the decisions that building tradespeople, key players in the energy, economic, and societal transitions, have been waiting for for months. They will loudly and clearly voice their exasperation with unstable, complex systems that are disconnected from their reality, and their demand to be heard.

Ministerial announcements that confirm concerns

The announcements made by Housing Minister Vincent Jeanbrun this weekend confirm the warnings raised by the industry:

Immediate risk: without a vote on the budget, MaPrimeRénov' would be suspended on January 1st, as well as at the beginning of 2025.
The minister himself acknowledges that this "stop-and-go" approach is destructive for households as well as for tradespeople.

For CAPEB, these announcements confirm the urgent need for immediate stabilization of the rules, without waiting until 2026.

Focus – Mobilization in Lille

On December 17 at 11 a.m., as part of this national mobilization, Jean-Christophe Repon, president of CAPEB, will go to the prefecture of Lille, alongside CAPEB Nord and craftsmen from Hauts-de-France.
