An elegant and durable raised terrace transforms a house in La Marne

The project spans the entire facade of the house, beneath an imposing pergola, creating a new outdoor living space that is both modern and functional. To guarantee an aesthetically pleasing and long-lasting result, she chose JOUPLAST solutions.^®, a brand renowned for the quality of its products made in France and for its expertise in the field of raised terraces.

To simplify installation while ensuring a durable and resistant structure, the terrace was built using PROFILDECK double-sided aluminum joists.^® H27 resting on height-adjustable supports from the Essentiel range by JOUPLAST^®.

For the flooring, the choice fell on 30 x 120 cm paving slabs, adding a contemporary touch and a beautiful perspective effect along the facade. To complete the look, JOUPLAST clip-on side finishing profiles were used.^® Aluminium strips were installed, ensuring a clean and neat edge.

Finally, to ensure a harmonious transition with the landscaped area, a 30 cm wide strip of paving stones was laid along the edge of the terrace, at lawn level, creating an elegant and structuring visual outline.

Beyond aesthetics, installing a deck on pedestals also offers numerous practical advantages. This seamless installation method eliminates the need for extensive excavation, promotes natural rainwater drainage, and allows easy access to utilities located beneath the deck, such as water pipes or electrical cables. Furthermore, the adjustable pedestals compensate for uneven ground.

PROFILDECK joists^® Essential and naturally durable pedestals

The innovative PROFILDECK range^® JOUPLAST^®Composed of joists and accessories, this system offers optimal strength and durability for raised decks. Versatile, the joists feature one face specifically designed to accommodate the spacers needed for laying slabs, and another for screwing down wood decking boards or attaching clips for composite boards. This design allows for combining different materials – natural stone, porcelain stoneware, wood, or composite – to create a fully customized deck.

Made from aluminum, a naturally rot-proof and 100% recyclable material, PROFILDECK joists^® They are resistant to weathering and insect attacks, unlike wooden joists which are likely to deteriorate over time.

Combined with the adjustable pedestals from the JOUPLAST Essential range^®, made from recycled polypropylene, the PROFILDECK self-supporting structure^® ensures increased longevity of the terrace, thus guaranteeing a durable and pleasant outdoor space for many years.

As part of the Mourmelon-le-Petit construction project, JOUPLAST clip-on finishing profiles were used.^®Made of 100% recyclable aluminum, these edging strips have been installed. They allow for quick and easy installation, without additional tools or glue, and facilitate removal for maintenance or inspection under the terrace. This solution, which requires no tile cutting, represents a significant time saving compared to other edging systems.

Laying the pads and joists

Setting up the structure:

Position the adjustable pedestals from the JOUPLAST Essential range^®, clip the adapters onto the head of the pads, then install the PROFILDECK aluminum joists^® on the adapters by applying pressure. Adjust the height of the pads by turning the nut by hand to the desired level. The joists are then secured and held on the pads by means of the adapters, using self-drilling structural screws.

Installation of spacers and laying of paving slabs:

Place the slab spacers in the PROFILDECK profile rail^®These breakable spacers, for staggered installation or installation against a wall, create a 3 mm drainage gap between the slabs. Install the paving, readjusting the spacing and level as you go.

Note: the installation of self-adhesive rubber strips on the profiles ensures perfect support of the paving slabs on the joist and reduces noise and resonance generated when walking on the terrace.

Installation of clip-on finishing profiles

JOUPLAST finishing profiles^® They are attached to the paving slabs placed on each pedestal around the perimeter of the terrace using fixing clips. Additional accessories allow for concealing the butt joints of two finishing profiles or for joining two profiles at an inside or outside corner, thus ensuring a neat and aesthetically pleasing connection.
