Objective: To systematically integrate heat wave adaptation solutions into each renovation project to improve the thermal comfort of buildings during heatwaves. The goal is to adapt 2030% of France's housing stock and 10 million m² in the tertiary sector by 30.
With climate projections predicting peaks of up to 50°C in urban areas, it is becoming imperative to change course and prepare city stakeholders to adapt sustainably to extreme heat waves. The "Our Cities at 50°C" collective was initiated with this in mind. The collective brings together a number of city stakeholders (local authorities, social housing providers, developers, planners, construction companies, and engineering firms), including Acorus. As a recognized specialist in eco-renovation of occupied sites, Acorus will provide the collective with its technical skills and field experience to design operational thermal adaptation solutions at the scale of buildings and neighborhoods.
This collective action, whose membership is expected to grow rapidly, brings together major players: Acorus, Altarea, Bouygues Immobilier, EPA Marne, GA Smart Building, Icade, Immobilière 3F, the City of Paris, Vinci Immobilier, RIVP, Seqens Solidarités. And an initial community of expertise: Béchu & associés, Carbone 4, Martin Duplantier Architectes, Cerema, LexCity avocats, Pouget Consultants, Gustave Eiffel University, IFPEB, OID, CIBI. The initiative is also supported by Action Logement and the University of the City of Tomorrow.
Reflexes to adopt and a culture of adaptation to build
In the current context, it is essential to rethink all practices, from the design to the use of buildings. For example, renovating buildings by systematically integrating blackout and solar protection solutions. Generalizing nighttime ventilation to optimize the thermal comfort of buildings. Avoiding the "thermos effect," where heat is trapped inside the building during the summer. This partnership will allow Acorus to co-develop, alongside other members of the collective, tools and best practices adapted to the constraints of co-ownerships and social housing.
For Philippe Benquet, President of the Acorus group: "Acorus is pleased to partner with the "Our Cities at 50 Degrees" collective. This is an opportunity for us to bring our operational expertise to the service of occupant comfort. We look forward to working with market players, and in particular some of our long-standing social housing clients, on concrete tools to address a growing concern for occupants: summer comfort."
