Aiming to improve the ergonomics of workstations, the productivity of the factory and the perceived quality of its joinery, this approach is part of its continuous improvement and CSR policy for which the French manufacturer has set quantifiable objectives for 2024-2027.
With a covered area of 15.000 m2, the AMCC production site in La Bresse, which manufactures 150 joinery pieces per day and currently employs 65 people, has launched an investment plan worth more than one million euros spread over 2024-2025. In addition to €250.000 dedicated to the overall renovation of the building (roof and floor), the remaining €900.000 will enable the manufacturer to continue the priority actions defined within the framework of its CSR policy around its three key pillars.
Pillar No. 1: ensuring the safety and well-being of your employees
In order to improve the ergonomics of workstations, the safety of daily tasks and prevent the risks of musculoskeletal disorders for its operators, AMCC has installed within the SNM workshop in La Bresse:
- a new glass suction cup with a gripping capacity of 220 kg, a load doubled compared to the previous version. It allows heavier and larger glass panes to be handled safely, thus reducing the risk of falls and injuries while minimizing physical effort,
- A new rolling shutter packing table that allows one person, instead of two previously, to operate sliding shutters equipped with rolling shutters. The transfer of the sliding shutters from the assembly table to the packing table, and then to the finished product cassettes, is now much more seamless. This simplified process also reduces the risk of injuries related to repetitive movements and the carrying of heavy loads.
In addition, the machining center's workstations have been redesigned to eliminate critical movements and postures, as well as the creation of a relaxation area for employees to provide them with a positive working environment.
Pillar No. 2: actively contribute to the preservation of the planet
In an effort to significantly reduce its carbon footprint throughout the value chain, AMCC has dedicated part of its investments to:
- replace its old compressed air dryer with a model that uses three times less electricity. This change not only allows the SNM site to make substantial savings, but it also helps reduce the use of non-renewable resources,
- optimize the recovery of its waste (paper, cardboard, wood, aluminum, scrap metal, plastic, plaster, rubble, etc.). In 2024, 83% will have been recycled at SNM's aluminum production site and 93% at AMCC's PVC production site in Châteauroux,
- design untreated and reusable wooden packaging for its Prestige entrance doors that in no way harms the protection of these high-end doors, for zero-plastic transport,
- Substitute 100% of gas energy for production from a biomass boiler, equipment that is among the most environmentally friendly on the market. Having extended the heating network to the shipping building, this allows the SNM site in La Bresse to save 30 tons of gas per year and heat the entire site with renewable energy.
So many initiatives that illustrate AMCC's concrete progress from an environmental point of view.
Pillar #3: An excellent customer experience
AMCC has always placed customer satisfaction, both in terms of product quality and service, at the heart of its strategy. Now included in its CSR policy, this commitment is illustrated on the SNM website by:
- the purchase of a new, high-performance, high-precision hydraulic bending machine to reduce manufacturing times for aluminum profiles,
- the creation of 4 new backlit stations for checking glazing,
- the acquisition of a machine for cutting, gradually according to the set dimensions, the rolls of glazing bead from the new F78 OC range and the direct drilling of the drainage holes,
- the installation of a 4-head carding machine to crimp the frames of the aluminum striking profiles. Beyond a productivity gain, this ensures pressure on the 4 angles at the same time, guaranteeing them a perfect finish and offers the SNM site the possibility of crimping ranges previously framed with pins and therefore ensuring greater homogeneity in the customer product offering. Furthermore, the flushness is zero, which avoids operators having to manually correct this difference in height between two angles.
After several months of intensive work, the SNM production site finally has a brand new aluminum training center. With a surface area of 500 m2, it is designed to welcome AMCC customers in a welcoming space and highlight its ranges of entrance doors, casement joinery and sliding doors. Featuring a meeting room with a view of the production workshops, it is distinguished by its glass roof manufactured by the factory which highlights the framework in an industrial spirit while allowing maximum natural light to enter, with a breathtaking view of the Vosges mountains.
Building on the investments made in Châteauroux through to 2026, the investments made in La Bresse demonstrate AMCC's commitment to integrating greener, more responsible practices into the daily operations of its production sites. By adopting more productive technologies and aiming for more efficient use of its resources, the company is implementing a sustainable growth model for both itself and the environment.
