AGC reaches another important milestone in carbon emission reduction thanks to new GWP and recycled content values

Thanks to the company's ongoing efforts, AGC's low-carbon and standard lenses have achieved a further unprecedented reduction in their global warming potential (GWP), validated by Environmental and Health Declaration Sheets (FDES) verified by a third-party organization, as well as exceptional recycled content rates.

New values ​​for AGC low-carbon glass and standard glass

AGC's Low-Carbon Glass sets a new benchmark in the industry thanks to an improved Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 4,8 kg CO₂ eq./m² for a thickness of 4 mm(1), which is 50% lower than the European average(1). This result positions AGC's Low-Carbon Glass at the forefront of available solutions. Present on the European market(2) with a cullet (recycled glass)(3) content exceeding 60%, Low-Carbon Glass is the ideal choice for companies committed to their social and environmental responsibility (CSR). Available on an industrial scale without volume limitations, Low-Carbon Glass can be assembled into laminated glass or coated with low-emissivity and solar control layers for thermal insulation and assembled into double or triple glazing units.

Furthermore, AGC's Planibel standard float glass now boasts an improved Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 9,8 kg CO₂ eq./m² for a thickness of 4 mm(1). This figure is 5% lower than the European average(1) and 12% lower than that of some of the least sustainable glass available in Europe(2). With a recycling rate of 11,2%(3), it is an excellent choice for construction professionals committed to environmental responsibility. These new values ​​apply to the entire Planibel range in all countries, including clear, extra-clear, and colored float glass.

Verified and up-to-date Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) via AGC's "Glass Configurator"

Integrated into AGC's Glass Configurator, an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) generator for given glazing compositions allows users to create legally valid EPDs. This unique tool, validated by an external body, provides the most up-to-date EPDs for a significant portion of AGC's product catalog, including all updated Global Warming Potential (GWP) values.

This value is derived from the environmental product declarations (EPD) – FDES in France – verified by a third-party body and published by each glass producer in Europe for standard clear glass, weighted by the estimated volume of glass produced.
