A new art center will open in October on Île Seguin, near Paris

Named "Large, Contemporary Cultures", this new cultural venue in the Paris region aims to "support the contemporary French art scene in all its diversity, from emerging practices to major figures of the 20th century", said Laurent Dumas, president of the real estate group Emerige, which is behind the project, when presenting it with Jean-Dominique Senard, president of Renault.

This space is part of the immense project to rehabilitate the island of Seguin and its surroundings, more than 20 years after the destruction of the Renault factory, which operated there from 1929 to 1992.

"Large" is part of La Pointe des Arts, an urban hub of 53.000 m2 which includes a cinema, offices, shops, near La Seine musicale, inaugurated in 2017.

Open to the public on October 17, its inaugural exhibition, "Imaginary Engine", will present paintings and sculptures from the Renault Collection, which includes works by Tinguely, Vasarely, Arman or Doisneau, as well as 17 special commissions given to contemporary artists.

She draws "her inspiration from the symbolic heritage of the historic Renault factory site, a place that has long set the pace for French industry," emphasized Cecilia Alemani, the curator of the exhibition, which will bring together 55 artists from 23 countries until March 7, 2027.
