- 48% are in favor of electricity taking up more and more space
- 57% of French people have confidence in electrical energy
- For 63%, other energy sources will intervene in the future
- Energy independence from France is impossible for 65% of French people
For Éric ANES, President of Rothelec: “Electricity as the energy of the future? For its part, Rothelec has always bet on this energy source, sometimes even being totally “against the current”. Today, electricity takes a central place in our life and also for our future: construction of new EPRs, end of the thermal car, etc. What is the perception of the French on this question? Do they trust? Do they think it's the energy of tomorrow? What other possible energies? Our survey provides some interesting answers and lines of thought. »
Source of trust
The vast majority of French people have some confidence in electricity. This is what more than 57% of those questioned say. 11% have no opinion on the question and only 32% do not trust this source of energy.
An electric future?
Already present in our everyday life, electricity will take more and more place in our energy consumption in the future for 59% of French people. This predominance is also appreciated by 1 out of 2 French people; i.e. 48%; against 46% who are not in favor and 6% who have no opinion on the question.
Multiple energy sources
When it comes to the different energy production solutions, the French are clearly divided into three categories:
- 37% believe that nothing can replace electricity;
- 32% that other sources can complement electricity;
- 31% that other solutions are able to replace electricity.
However, it is interesting to note that overall, 63% of French people think that other energy sources have a card to play in the future.
Does electricity rhyme with cleanliness?
If the production of electricity is considered as a “clean” source of energy by more than 44% of French people, 37% are however not at all of this opinion. It is therefore difficult to know which way the balance leans when 19% of respondents are unable to choose.
Energy independence possible?
Faced with the multiple hazards that the French have suffered in recent months, the question of energy independence remains very delicate and a sensitive subject. Thus, 65% think that France is incapable of ensuring its own production and only 31% hope that this will be the case one day.
Methodology: Survey carried out among 2 people representative of the French national population aged 824 and over. Survey conducted online from the panel of BuzzPress respondents (18 people in France). Between April 27.000 and April 6, 13, an electronic survey was sent by email and posted online. The responses were then compiled and weighted according to pre-established quotas aimed at ensuring the representativeness of the sample and in order to obtain a representativeness of the target population. All weightings are based on administrative data and data collected by INSEE.
