Interventions by 30 experts highlighted the latest thinking on how glass can contribute to the development of fairer and more sustainable societies, as well as the latest scientific and technical advances.
In France, on February 11, 2022, the Fédération des Industries du Verre and the Fédération du Cristal et du Verre organized the opening conference "Glass for a sustainable daily life", at the Palais du Luxembourg under the sponsorship of Catherine Dumas, Senator of Paris and President of the Métiers d'Art Group.
As an introduction, the presentation of the Barrois workshop highlighted the creative and innovative potential of glass.

Two round tables were then organised. The first dedicated to climate change highlighted the commitments and concrete actions of the glass industry with the testimony of three companies. This round table demonstrated that decarbonization is the priority on the agenda of the glass industry.

The second was devoted to the diversity of uses of glass through several testimonials from users (design, architecture, world of luxury). She thus presented the tremendous potential of glass in the field of the creation of forms and products, in that of sustainable housing with increased access to light and improved thermal performance. And finally in the field of luxury, the accent was placed on the contribution of glass to the success of the major French brands on a global level.
For Jacques Bordat, President of the Federation of Glass Industries: “Glass, omnipresent in our daily lives, fits perfectly into the logic of a sustainable world. The glass industry's transition to a low-carbon world is underway. »
For Jérôme de Lavergnolle, president of the Federation of Crystal and Glass: "the pride of an entire profession to take part in this formidable adventure thanks to a durable material with multiple uses and the implementation of exceptional know-how".
A large number of events will be organized throughout 2022 in order to raise awareness of glass, highlight the excellence and diversity of its professions and know-how and inform younger generations of the prospects that the glass industry glass can offer them.
The anneduverre2022 site will show the actions carried out by the glass community throughout the territory, in particular through the glass routes, an initiative aimed at making glass sites in France known to as many people as possible.
