1st project carried out in France with the new Rubbergard EDPM SA self-adhesive waterproofing membrane from Elevate

This innovative solution, combining the performance of the traditional membrane with the patented Secure Bond technology, is full of advantages on construction sites: time savings multiplied by 2,5 on average, quality of implementation, installation comfort, durability... .

So many advantages that won over SARL HABIT-TOIT, which specializes in roofing and cladding work. Its manager Cyril Lebeury had already been working for several years with ELEVATE waterproofing membranes (RUBBERCOVER EPDM and RUBBERGARD EPDM).

He tested and approved this new self-adhesive version on the roof of his own 750 m2 building to house his offices, workshop and storage area in Lessay (50), in the Gaslonde business park.

The installation of the 750 m2 of RUBBERGARD EPDM SA sheets was carried out on October 12 by the manager of SARL HABIT-TOIT. Being the first French site with this self-adhesive EPDM waterproofing membrane, three ELEVATE technical experts were present as well as three from SVET, the brand's authorized distributor in the West, to support them at each stage. In a single day, the building on a wooden frame was thus put out of water.

ELEVATE's technical experts demonstrated the new installation technique for the first time. The company, already familiar with the ELEVATE systems, quickly made its mark. This self-adhesive solution opens up possibilities for roofers, who, like many, face a shortage of skilled labour. It makes it possible to deal with construction sites more efficiently while guaranteeing optimal quality. »

Simplified fitting, maximized comfort

Once the 3m wide membrane was unrolled and placed in the right place on the roof, following the layout plan, the two roofers just had to peel off the protective film and smooth down the sheet, which can be repositioned if necessary. No more application of glue even in bond, no more waiting time between the coat on the product and that on the support and no more solvent fumes! Since the glue is directly integrated into the EPDM membrane, there is no need to move buckets of adhesives. Extra comfort for the professional!

Uniform and long-lasting adhesion

The Secure Bond adhesive is factory applied to the entire RUBBERGARD EPDM SA membrane. The grammage is identical to the ends for a perfect adhesion. A guarantee of safety for the company and the project managers, who no longer fear strong winds. On this site, it was around 10°C but RUBBERGARD EPDM SA can be installed even if the temperatures are negative (down to -7°C). A real advantage for professionals who want to be able to pose all year round. This membrane, 1,5 mm thick, retains the same performance as the classic version. Thanks to a high resistance to ozone, UV radiation and extreme temperatures, it has a lifespan of more than 50 years.

For Cyril Lebeury, Manager of SARL HABIT-TOIT: “This new generation solution is a real time saver on site. Most of the projects we carry out are residential but we sometimes have tertiary or individual house roofs of more than 100 m2. If we have a time requirement, for example, we know that we can prescribe this self-adhesive product with our eyes closed. For the rest, we will continue with the classic EPDM version of ELEVATE. We have been installing this waterproofing membrane for 4 years and we are more than satisfied. It is 3 times lighter than bitumen, thus limiting the weight in the framework. It is also easier to work with and more durable. »
