The 1 building, 1 work charter is part of the State's policy of supporting artistic creation and disseminating the visual arts to the widest public. It testifies to the common commitment of civil society and public authorities in favor of artistic creation for the benefit of all. The charter of the Ministry of Culture commits each signatory company to call on a living artist, by ordering or purchasing an existing work, in the field of visual arts, and to pay the remuneration. of the artist, as well as the costs of making and installing the work.
Today, the 1 building, 1 work program continues to federate and mobilize real estate developers, real estate companies and social landlords, more and more of whom are joining the program, wishing to initiate an exchange and sharing around works of art. art in places of life or work. More than 500 works have already been installed throughout France. Inside or outside the buildings, in the common areas or in the public square, a veritable route of works takes shape throughout the territory. Sculptures, paintings, light installations or original creations of furniture: the creations reconnect with a historical practice of a concerted dialogue between art and architecture and confirm the diversity and richness of the French scene. Since the launch of the operation, nearly 400 artists, emerging and confirmed, have invited residents and visitors to reflect, daydream, discuss but also debate, including Daniel Buren, Johan Creten, Gloria Friedman, Fabrice Hyber, Eva Jospin, Arik Levy, Théo Mercier and even Prune Nourry. The program is also open to temporary artistic proposals carried out during construction time.
