Acorus uses 3D BIM for the renovation of the Boissières hotel in Levallois-Perret (92)

A hotel renovation optimized thanks to 3D BIM

Since the start of the year, Acorus has discovered the advantages of 3D BIM. Trained using Autodesk Revit Architecture software, a designer integrated into the Acorus design office can represent works on construction sites in 3D and thus simulate renovation projects. Exercise applied since last April to the construction site of the Boissières hotel in Levallois-Perret (92) where Acorus teams were mandated to renovate 48 rooms.

Firstly, measurements of the existing condition of each room were taken using a laser meter which creates a cloud of points, to ensure the correct measurement of all dimensions. Then, using the BIM design and drawing tool, the designer modeled ten bathroom typologies to the nearest cm, thus creating 3D models in all possible configurations.

By producing reliable and accurate plans, we can more precisely estimate our needs for equipment, materials and working time, particularly when responding to calls for tenders. »

Better prepare your site to limit reserves

The objective on the Boissières hotel site was to make the tile layout drawings for each of the bathrooms more precise: planning the quantities of tiles as well as their cutting allowing the workers to immediately devote themselves to installation. 3D BIM has made it possible to move more quickly on operations, to avoid false cuts, to reduce the risk of error which could lead to additional handling and tile scraps. Digital models made it possible to resolve problems observed during the synthesis of technical and architectural plans. In less than a week all comments were resolved before execution, directly on the 3D plans.

Ultimately, it is also the way to limit the number of reservations to be raised upon acceptance of the site. That of the Boissières hotel was also received without any reservations, two weeks in advance of execution thanks to the use of BIM.

Good site preparation is important because it limits errors in the field. This solution is interesting for us and for our customers, who immediately understand what we are offering them thanks to these 3D drawings. This is a real time saver which also allows the reserve rate to be drastically reduced. »
